AVVA Cigars & Wine Featured Cigar
Our featured cigar for this month is the Frank Llaneza 1961. Frank Llaneza developed this cigar in conjunction with Altadis, and is distributed solely through brick and mortar stores such as AVVA Cigars and Wine. In fact, this cigar is only available in one other store in all of Oregon!
Frank Llaneza may well be the "Grand Old Man" of the cigar industry, one of the few gentlemen who actually worked in the halcyon last days of the Cuban cigar industry. His knowledge came first hand in the trade as he started as a young boy, literally sweeping floors in a cigar factory and progressed up through the company working his way up to being a master blender. MNr. Llaneza is the man who gave us, among many others, the Punch and Hoyo de Monterrey cigars during his time at the helm of Villazon & Co.
This newest creation is truly a connoisseurs cigar, full of rich complexity and a wide variety of flavor notes. Smooth, with a creamy finish, yet strong enough to really wake up the palate. Made in Nicaragua with an Ecuadoran Criollo 98 wrapper with Nicaraguan binder around Nicaraguan & Dominican filler leaves; this cigar exhudes a muscular quality to its flavor profile with strong notes of leather, wood and spice throughout. It is not an overwhelmingly powerful cigar, it can be easily enjoyed by those who prefer a medium strength smoke, but has more than enough richness and complexity for those who prefer a truly strong cigar to enjoy immensly as well.
